Pimotek pimobendan tablets for dogs and puppies comes from the house of Ektek pharma and helps in the management of congestive heart failure, dilated cardiomyopathy and other cardiac disorders in dogs & cats.
Pimobendan provides tremendous benefit for both canine congestive heart failure(CHF), pre-clinical dilated cardiomyopathy and preclinical degenerative valve disease. The pimobendan in pimotek reduces congestion in the blood vessels, thus reducing the overall load on the heart. Pimobendan and its active metabolite have numerous beneficial effects like Inotropy – Troponin C sensitization, vasodilation – Smooth muscle ATP – sensitive K*-channel activation and cardioprotection – Mitochondrial ATP Sensitive K*-channel activation.
Its positive inotropic effect through calcium sensitization of the cardiac troponin C molecule and phosphodiesterase III inhibition imparts increased inotropy leading to improved cardiac output with greater potency. The balanced vasodilator effect provides Peripheral Vasodilation by inhibiting the function of PDE3. This results in decreased resistance to blood flow through systemic arterioles, which decreases afterload on the cardiac system.
Available strengths are 2.5 mg and 5mg.
Dosage: Use as per advice of prescribing veterinarian – do not self-medicate.
Usual dosage of pimobendan is 0.3 to 0.5 mg/kg bodyweight daily for dogs. Approx total daily dosage is 1.25mg for 2.5kg dog, 2.5mg for 5kg dog, 5mg for 10kg dog, 10mg for 20kg dog, 20mg for 40kg dog per day. The dosage can be divided into 2 halves in 24 hours.
Tablets are flavored and chewable for easy administration.
