Finapet tablets for dogs come from the house of Vivaldis Animal Health and contain Finasteride, an antiandrogen which is used to treat Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH) or enlarged prostate in dogs.
Finasteride blocks or inhibits the action of an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase which changes testosterone to another hormone Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that causes the prostate to grow. It increases testosterone levels in the body, which decreases prostate size. Prevalence of BPH (benign prostatic hyperplasia) is more common in senior dogs rather than puppies – 80% in dogs older than 6 years and 95% older than 9 years of age. Helps improve symptoms like urinary retention.

Usual dosage of finapet or finasteride is 0.1mg-0.5 mg per Kg body weight orally once a day in dogs or one finapet 5mg tablet for dogs of body weight 10-50kg per day or as advised by prescribing veterinarian.
